Mikheil Khergiani House-Museum

This house-museum belongs to the Georgian alpinist, international master of sports, nicknamed the “Rock Tiger” Mikheil Khergiani, and it was organized in M. Khergiani’s native house in 1983.

The house-museum is one of the remarkable architectural monuments of the Laghami region, which is distinguished by its very unusual appearance, elements of a house-fortress and completely unusual artistic or architectural solutions. Here you will find M. Khergiani’s personal belongings: clothes, mountaineering equipment, photographs, awards, gifts - including a recording of Vl. Vysotsky’s song, which he dedicated to Khergiani, and more.

The author of the house-museum, Leo Khojelan, is a famous Svaneti artist. The main source of his creativity was Svaneti. He also worked in the field of engraving. He made a great contribution to the discovery of the amazing natural potential of Svaneti. Through his direct efforts, an art school was founded in Mestia. His house-museum was opened in the village of Laghami, Mestia district.
