Abanotubani
Tbilisi, the heart of Georgia, is the country’s vibrant and hospitable capital, spread along the banks of the Mtkvari River, and it will captivate you at first sight.
Abanotubani is the oldest district of Tbilisi. It is closely linked to the legendary story of the city’s founding. According to tradition, in the 5th century, King Vakhtang Gorgasali was hunting when he chased a wounded pheasant that fell into a hot spring. The king then ordered the construction of a city at this location. Historical sources, however, confirm that a settlement existed here even earlier.
