DAY 03                 AGRA

After early breakfast visit the Taj Mahal (closed on Fridays) - the greatest love story ever told. On the death of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal, in wild extravagance, Shah Jahan built her this memorial. 20,000 men labored for over 22 years to build this wealth of white marble and precious stones. This magnificent tomb offers an altogether different experience bathed in the soft light of the morning, like a poem in marble. An ethereal atmosphere pervades the whole place, the subdued light highlighting the beauty of the monument.

Then visit Agra Fort, built by Emperor Akbar on the banks of Yamuna, beautified with palaces and gardens. Within the fort are the Khas Mahal, Sheesh Mahal (mirror palace) and Anguri Bagh (Grape Garden).  Many events which led to the construction of the Taj Mahal, took place here. This fort also serves as a vantage location to have a fabulous glimpse of the Taj.

Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 04        AGRA / JAIPUR (239 km/ 5 hrs)
After breakfast, drive to Jaipur en route visiting Fatehpur Sikri. Perched atop a rocky ridge 37 km from Agra, Fatehpur Sikri was built by Emperor Akbar 4 centuries ago it was the first planned city, built in red sandstone, a blend of Indo- Islamic architectural elements.  The city was actualized with great energy, but was completely abandoned a decade later.
Continue your drive towards Jaipur. On arrival check in at the hotel.

DAY 05        JAIPUR
Breakfast at the hotel.
Morning visit Amer Fort with elephant ride. Amer is a classic, romantic fort-palace. The outer walls look rugged and time-ravaged, but the interior is a virtual paradise. Miniatures painted on the walls depict festivals, hunting and war scenes. Precious stones and mirrors are embedded into the plaster. A major attraction at Amer is the Elephant ride all the way up to the Fort entrance. This journey on caparisoned elephants in royal Maharaja Style is a truly unforgettable experience. Inside the Fort visit the Jag Mandir or Hall of Victory with the famed Sheesh Mahal – a room with all the four walls and ceiling completely embedded with glittering mirror pieces specially imported from Belgium during that period.
Afternoon visit the City Palace, the former Royal residence, part of it now a museum. A small portion is still used by Jaipur’s royal family. Built in the style of a fortified campus, the palace covers almost one-seventh in area of the city. One of the major attractions in the museum is the Armory section housing an impressive array of weaponry - pistols, flintlocks, blunderbusses, swords, rifles and daggers, most of them once used by the royal families. Later visit Jantar Mantar, the largest stone and marble crafted Observatory in the world, with 17 large instruments, many of them still in working condition.
