Mtatsminda

Mtatsminda

Mtatsminda is the highest and most famous mountain among those surrounding Tbilisi. It rises to 770 meters, and from here you can view the city as if from a bird’s eye. The park is open daily, throughout all four seasons. You can reach it either by car or by the beautiful Funicular – the mountain cable railway built in 1905, with tickets available on site. The park can also be accessed from Rustaveli Avenue by a cable car that takes you up in just four minutes.

On Mtatsminda stands one of Tbilisi’s symbols – the TV Tower and the giant Ferris wheel, both visible from almost any point in the city before you even arrive.

In Bombora Park, there are attractions for three generations – children’s, family, and extreme rides. In the three-story Funicular building, itself a historic and architectural landmark of Tbilisi, there is a wide variety of choices for gourmets.

All of this is surrounded by a coniferous forest, with ideal spots for walking and picnicking. From here, hiking trails lead towards Turtle Lake, Narikala Fortress, and the Sololaki district.
