Ushguli

Ushguli

Ushguli – one of the highest, permanently inhabited villages in Europe, with stunning views of Mount Shkhara, Svan towers and ancient temples with unique paintings, which create an exotic and fabulous environment. Ushguli is built on the slopes of the 5,201-meter-high peak Shkhara. This is the highest peak in Georgia and the third highest in the Greater Caucasus Range.

Ushguli is not the name of any specific village, but of a community consisting of 5 small villages. The paths starting from these small villages lead to the great peak of the Caucasus.

In addition to fantastic views, in the villages of the Ushguli community you will see: an abundance of Svan towers and extraordinary Svan architecture, with cult, residential and agricultural buildings.
